Water Environment Federation

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization of water quality professionals. WEF has over 34,000 individual members and 75 Member Associations representing water quality professionals around the world. WEF is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.

WEF’s mission is to “inspire the water community in pursuit of human and environmental well-being.” WEF accomplishes its mission through a variety of activities, including:

Education: WEF provides a variety of educational resources and the water and wastewater industry. WEF also publishes a number of technical journals and magazines.

Research: WEF supports research on water quality and wastewater treatment. WEF also publishes the results of this research in its technical journals and magazines.

Advocacy: WEF advocates for the water and wastewater industry at the federal, state, and local levels of government. WEF works to ensure that the industry’s voice is heard on important issues such as water quality regulations and funding for water infrastructure.

Networking: WEF provides opportunities for its members to network and collaborate with each other. WEF also hosts a number of events throughout the year, including the annual WEFTEC conference and exposition.
